In recognition of January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month, our NCJW Human Trafficking committee had a busy January with members making in-person presentations at City Council meetings throughout Palm Beach County on the techniques traffickers use to recruit minors for sex or labor trafficking and explanations about the rapid growth of sextortion of teens and young adults.
Elizabeth Harrison presented our program Tricked, Trapped, Blackmailed and Trafficked at the Lake Park Library that was translated into Creole. Judy Traub and Elizabeth made a presentation at the South Palm Beach Town Hall as part of their Robert Welstein Quest for Knowledge Lecture Series, and Judy Traub was the guest speaker at the Wellington Rotary meeting.
We have restocked our NCJW Closet at Catholic Charities with the personal care items that rescued survivors of human trafficking need at their initial arrival for care after rescue.
