Holiday Bags Distribution
On November 11th, Villaggio residents delivered Hanukkah goodies, including latke and matzo ball mix, soup, noodles, canned fruit, vegetables, jams, crackers, cookies, gelt and Hanukkah candles to the home of Mirilynn Zager, Chair of our Holiday Bags program. The donated items were separated and assembled into Hanukkah bags for delivery to several local synagogues serving food insecure Jewish families. Each bag was tagged with an NCJW Palm Beach Hanukkah greeting beautifully created by our graphic artist, Barbara Bose.
The incredible generosity of our residents allowed us to deliver 37 bags filled to the brim with holiday foods. It was wonderful to be able to put a smile on the faces of those who otherwise might not have been able to celebrate with all the traditional trappings.
You Be the Judge
On Sunday evening, December 12th, Villaggio NCJW held its first in-person event with a program called You Be the Judge. Directed by our own Christene Campbell Gabor, this interactive event provided us with three unique court cases. Each table chose a Captain and, after full deliberations, the Captain was called upon to explain the rationale of his or her table members in deciding their verdict. We were also provided with previous court decisions on similar cases as a basis for our discussion. There were many dissenting votes, proving the difficulty in determining complex court cases and the very importance of courts, judges, and juries.
The verdict of the evening was that everyone thought the program was different and had a lot of fun testing their ability to interpret legal issues.
