This month, being Jewish American Heritage Month, we celebrate the outsized contributions of Jewish Americans throughout our nation’s 250 year history.In his 1790 letter to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport, Rhode Island, President George Washington wrote: “May the Children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhabitants; while everyone shall sit in safety under his own vine and fig tree, and there shall be none to make him afraid.” In the same letter, he wrote,  “The United States gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution, no assistance. As President, I will never stop fighting to protect our birthright of religious freedom…” We, as Jewish Americans, will continue to fight bigotry in all forms, so that we can make President Washington’s words a reality for all.
