NCJW Palm Beach was one of the lead organizations bringing a screening of the move SEXTORTION – THE HIDDEN PANDEMIC to Palm Beach County. Sextortion occurs when an online predator tricks someone into sending them nude images or videos, and then demands money, more images, or makes other demands – threatening to share the images with the victim’s friends and family if they don’t comply. The screening was at the Duncan Theater on the Lake Worth campus of Palm Beach State College and was streamed to the Palm Beach State College campus in Belle Glade.

State Attorney Dave Aronberg opened the evening by discussing the dangers and rising numbers of youth becoming victims of sextortion, and film producer Stephen Peek spoke briefly about the making of the film prior to the screening. The screening was followed by a panel discussion with experts in human trafficking including Assistant US Attorney Gregory Schiller, Laura Cusack, Chair of the Palm Beach County Human Trafficking Coalition, Jackie Fernandez, Office of Palm Beach County Victim Services, and a member of law enforcement. The movie is extremely powerful and it is now available on Amazon Prime for rent ($4.99) or to buy ($9.99). For more information, contact humantrafficking@ncjwpalmbeach.org.
