SOUP FOR THE SOUL continues to meet the need to feed the hungry in Palm Beach County!

One of the unique parts of this program is NCJW’s partnership with Palm Beach Harvest, under the able leadership of Deborah Morgan CEO for the past 10+ years.

This year ( our 4th year) we have experienced the generous contribution of residents from The Club at Ibis, Ironhorse, Wycliffe and BallenIsles Country Club.  More communities to follow in the next few months.

If you recall, each bag collected contains specific ingredients to make Chef Richard’s Lentil Vegetable Soup to feed 12 children and adults.  Particular thanks to Debbie Mendelson (Ironhorse) Laurie Alexander (Ibis), Nancy Malchi (Wycliffe) and Carole Blumberg (BallenIsles) for their leadership in their communities.  Their combined efforts have fed a total of 3600 food-insecure children and families in Palm Beach County.

After our bags are picked up by Palm Beach Harvest, Deborah Morgan begins to get this food delivered immediately to the communities in need!  In the past few months, Deborah has set her sites on an extremely impoverished community in Palm Beach County. Residents here have difficulty getting out to shop because they have little money and the community itself is a dangerous place to leave. According to Deborah Morgan “when our colorful green bags filled with 5-star healthy ingredients are delivered to them, they feel like they are getting Christmas presents”.  Recently, two Palm Beach Harvest volunteers distributed the bags.  Pastor James Easley gave them to families of all ages at the Life Center on 23rd St and Tamarind Avenue in West Palm Beach and Sister Michelle Dority, to the Senior Center on 15th st and Tamarind  Avenue. Sister Michelle says that “her car is a grocery store on wheels!”

Once again, just remember that “Your act of kindness feeds the soul of so many in need!”
