MEALS WITH A CAUSE
Breaking Bread, Breaking Barriers
“Summertime and the livin’ is easy” is the first verse of Gershwin’s famous song from Porgy & Bess. For the residents of the Homeless Coalition’s resource location, The Lewis Center, life is no easier now than any other time of year. They continue to try to move from homeless to hopeful as they benefit from help provided by the 90 Day Rapid Rehousing program.
YOU can help them this summer by volunteering to serve a delicious dinner. Pictured below are the two most recent groups of NCJW masked volunteers. The recipients really appreciate the encouragement and good wishes that we share with them as we pass a plate of beef tacos or grilled chicken across the counter. They are always grateful and express their appreciation with a big “thank you.”

Do something to help yourself feel good this summer. Pick a date below and sign up to serve dinner at the Lewis Center. You will be there from 5:30 – 7. I really need your help as I am a “snowbird” and can’t be there. Ask a friend or two to come with you. I know you will all be glad to have made life better for the individuals who are the residents of the Lewis Center.
All dates are the 4th Thursday of the month
June 24 July 22 August 26 September 23 October 28
Send an email to me with your preferred date. I will provide all the details you will need to perform this mitzvah.
