The public is invited to lunch and a discussion on the role of the courts in American voting rights on June 15.

The Lake Worth lunch-and-talk is part of “Why Courts Matter,” a three-part series focused on how the lives of Floridians are affected by judicial vacancies and court decisions. The series is hosted by League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County, the ACLU Palm Beach County, and the National Council of Jewish Women Palm Beach County Sections (NCJW); it is funded by a grant from the Progress Florida Education Institute.

More than 120 people attended the first luncheon May 18 discussing the role of the courts in Florida redistricting.

The June 15 luncheon features Julie Ebenstein, staff attorney for the ACLU Voting Rights Project, speaking about the role of the courts in voting rights.

The next luncheon is on September 21.
