Kids Community Closets are emergency clothing closets for students in 16 Title 1 elementary schools in Palm Beach County.  More than 90% of the students in these schools live at or below the Federal poverty level.  We provide the students with new shorts, collared shirts, sweatshirts, socks, underwear and feminine hygiene products.  KCC had a very busy 2018-2019 school year. We purchased a combined total of 4,169 shorts, collared shirts, and sweatshirts AND 3,208 pairs of socks and underwear!!  All of this clothing was made available to more than 12,000 boys and girls as needed throughout the school year.  To keep the closets well stocked we spent a total of $34,921.61! This money comes from generous members, fundraising events, and grants from Ballenisles Charities and Sheila’s Brownie Brittle.  We are very grateful to everyone who contributes to this fabulous project. The closets are run by school staff on a daily basis. Our NCJW volunteers have developed strong relationships with the school staff and they visit at least three times a year to do a hands-on inventory.  Our volunteers completed inventories in late May just before school ended for the year.  These inventories are used to order clothing for the new school year.  We just completed the orders of shorts and shirts to be delivered in early August.  Socks and underwear will be ordered at the end of July.
