PATHWAYS IN EDUCATION
Heads Smart Heading to the Schools
After a tough year, we are looking forward to making our Heads Smart helmet and bicycle safety presentations in public and private schools, and in community venues. We have created a model lesson plan to be used for younger elementary school children, which we will submit to Palm Beach County Schools Administrators. We will be working with SafeKids Florida who will be providing us with materials for the children and will be setting up a meeting with Jack the Bike Man who provides free bikes for children who cannot afford them. At least two of us intend on attaining our helmet fitter's certification, which will then allow us to order helmets free of charge from the state.
We are seeking more volunteers for our program. We have so many things to do and can use help calling schools to inform them of our important work and to set up appointments for presentations, for example. Simple jobs, but they are so meaningful.
If anyone would like to help us save lives, one head at a time, please contact Marsha Rickles at mrickles@gmail.com or Ilene Leefer at icleefer@aol.com. It will make you feel good.
