NCJW Palm Beach Hosts
HATE IN THE SUNSHINE STATE
Why here? Can it get worse?
On May 9th, NCJW Palm Beach hosted a discussion with Lonny Wilk, Deputy Regional Director for ADL in Florida at The Barclay in Palm Beach.
Over 100 people attended in person and via Zoom.
Mr. Wilk outlined the rise in antisemitism around the country, but specifically in Florida.
The statistics were very clear…there has been an exponential rise in antisemitic harassment and attacks within the past few years. To the point, the number of antisemitic acts in Duval County (near Jacksonville) increased by 833%.
Several factors for this increase, including social media posts and the lack of pushback by many of our politicians, were outlined.
Thanks to Robin Sambur and Sandy Kaltman for bringing this important event to our Section.
