Robin Sambur & Caren Freigenberg have agreed to step in as Co-Chairs of the committee hoping to be able to fill the shoes as well as previous chairs: Marilyn Klompus and prior Linda Geller-Schwartz who both set a high standard.
Helene Askinazi hosted the #MeToo Symposium meeting where it was confirmed that the date will be Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Temple Shaarei Shalom in Boynton Beach. We will be reaching out to other groups to become co-sponsors of the event.
Judy Traub hosted a Human Trafficking Meeting with an impressive turnout. The current NCJW initiatives were presented and was followed by a discussion of how to expand the project with additional locations in which to install the posters, expanding into the Jewish community by encouraging discussions with congregants using educational forums, soliciting pro bono professionals’ help for the victims, having the program used as a mitzvah project such as collection of toiletries or positioning of posters. Suggestions were made to contact other groups both to talk about the project and to secure additional grants.
Also under Human Trafficking – Robin Sambur & Roberta Katz created the “South Palm Beach Care Initiative” with their neighbors in South Palm Beach to make the Town and its residences aware of the current crises. The Town Council has been very supportive of the Initiative and they are scheduled to speak in the Fall Season.
The balance of our projects has been placed on hold until our Fall meeting.
